Stephanie Miller was a beloved play therapist and board member of the Minnesota Association for Play
Therapy. She passed away from cancer in August 2023. This is a tremendous loss for the play therapy
community because anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Stephanie could see that she had a heart
for children and she felt called to serve children and families in need. Stephanie has had an undeniable
impact on the play therapy community and that impact will continue for years to come. Stephanie was
grateful for the opportunity to become a play therapist and she wanted to support others as they began
their play therapy journey. It is this passion that led to the creation of the Stephanie Miller First Steps
Scholarship. This scholarship will go to a student or pre-clinical member to assist in their play therapy
education or supervision. It is with Stephanie’s spirit that this scholarship will encourage others to “Play on!”
